  • Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) -- Responsibilities include: safety regulation; development of civil aeronautics; air traffic management & navigation facilities; abatement and control of aviation’s effects on the environment.

 

  • FirstGov for Science - A gateway to authoritative selected science information provided by US Government agencies.

 

  • Fuel Economy Guide - A joint production of the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, this site features updated fuel economy data for new and used passenger vehicles dating back to 1985, allows side-by-side vehicle comparisons, and offers fuel-saving tips. It also has vehicle-specific air pollution emissions information and safety ratings, and provides links to car buying web sites.

 

 

 

 

 

  • National Science Foundation -- An independent U.S. Government agency responsible for promoting science and engineering through research and the funding of educational projects.

 

 

 

 

 

  • U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) -- Although their site is geared mostly to health issues, the FDA does provide information on food and agricultural safety in addition to regulating feed quality and drug use in livestock and pets.

 

  • U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) -- News stories, press releases and resources on biology, geology, water resources, hazards, natural disasters and the environment for all levels of research.

 

  • U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) -- Search full text of patents including images back to January 1976. Download application forms. Order patent copies. Search for a registered patent attorney or agent. An invaluable site for inventors.
