Organizations
- Independent Women’s Forum - Conservative women’s political organization. The web site provides commentary, political news, press releases, and excerpts from IWF’s The Women’s Quarterly magazine.
- National Organization for Women (NOW) - One of the oldest organizations for women in the United States, NOW’s web site provides information about key issues affecting women, as well as links to feminist, legislative, and political resources.
- Zonta International - Worldwide service organization of professionals working together to advance the status of women.
Local Resources
- The New York State Division for Women - Office in the state government which serves as an advocate for women’s issues in New York, relying upon twelve regional advisory councils to gather and supply information on the issues affecting women in their regions.
- Rochester NOW - Information from the Rochester chapter of the National Organization for Women. Lists local resources, events, and news about women in the Rochester area.
Professional Associations
- Business and Professional Women USA - An organization for working women, BPW provides networking opportunities, resources, career positioning, and educational programs for its members nationwide.
Research and Reference Sources
- Institute for Women’s Policy Research (IWPR) - A public policy research organization created to inform and energize the debate on public policy issues important to women, such as poverty, welfare, employment, family, and the economic and social aspects of health care.
- National Center on Women & Aging - This site from Brandeis University provides research, policy analysis, and education to help improve the lives of midlife and older women.
- The Schlesinger Library - One of the most important collections of material on the history of women in the United States, the Schlesinger Library’s holdings include books, manuscripts, periodicals, diaries, oral history, and audiovisual material.
- Violence Against Women Office - Part of the Office of Justice Programs in the U.S. Department of Justice, VAWO was created in 1995 to lead the national effort towards eliminating violence against women. VAWO also works with law enforcement and victim advocates to develop programs and services for victims.
- Wellesley Centers for Women - The nation's largest women's research center is an interdisciplinary community of scholars engaged in research, programs, and publications promoting positive change for women and girls.
Journals and Periodicals
- Michigan Feminist Studies - Print journal published annually and edited by the graduate students at the University of Michigan. Includes table of contents, call for papers, subscription information, and links to other feminist periodicals.
- Ms. Magazine - Web edition of the feminist magazine. Includes contact phone numbers, online surveys, current issue excerpts, subscription information, book reviews, classifieds, and past issue information.
- Off Our Backs: A Women’s Newsjournal - A "radical feminist newsjournal". Web site features a table of contents for the print version; a women’s festival calendar; submission guidelines; and information about their internship program.
